The Philadelphia Phillies are having a fantastic season and there’s a lot of credit to go around on the roster. But for all the star talent on the roster, one player has perhaps surprised more than all the rest, and he’s beginning to garner national recognition. The Athletic published their Major League Baseball power rankings on Tuesday and as part of the piece, named an “unsung hero” for each of the 30 teams.Best porn XXX. The Phillies, of course, have many players who already dominate national headlines, but writers Grant Brisbee, Andy McCullough, and Stephen Nesbitt singled out utility infielder Edmundo Sosa. “With Trea Turner activated from the injured list on Monday, Sosa’s time as Philadelphia’s starting shortstop will end,” McCullough said in the Phillies’ section of the piece. “But what a time it was.” Sosa was meant to play a reserve role for the Phillies as he has in previous years but was thrust into a starting role when Trea Turner landed on the injured list with a hamstring strain. He has a .838 OPS on the season in 42 games, including a .841 OPS during Turner’s IL stint. Turner was injured on May 3 and returned for the Phillies’ 9-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Monday night. In the 38 games he missed, Philadelphia went 25-13, staking themselves to a nine-game lead in the National League East. “Sosa helped the club take flight and emerge as the favorite in the NL East,” McCullough said. Now that Turner has returned, Sosa will have to find a way to stay productive while receiving less consistent playing time. He entered Monday’s game as a defensive replacement but did not see an at-bat and with all four infield positions spoken for, it will be interesting to see whether Sosa’s strong start to the season earns him more opportunities. MLB.com reporter Paul Casella photographed Edmundo Sosa taking reps in left field before Monday’s game, a position he has manned for just two games in his big-league career. When the Phillies optioned Johan Rojas to Triple-A Monday, they essentially installed Brandon Marsh as their everyday center fielder, perhaps allowing Sosa a chance to compete with David Dahl for at-bats in left.
